
Director of Technical Assistance Services
Rich Batten has more than 20 years of experience as a collaborative and strategic leader, having led state and national technical assistance projects designed to help others align their work to best practices. A great project manager and team leader, he has the ability to compel others to step up their game to do the highest quality work, while also providing leadership to the development of strategies and tools. Batten excels at building relationships and teams that get results, using the latest communication tactics to keep people connected and goal aligned.
Batten has an extensive background in social and behavior change communication across systems, communities and families. For the last four years, he has led a family strengthening national resource center, with two distinct web-portals, now widely regarded as the nation’s most comprehensive resource for program operators, policy makers, and individuals. Prior to joining Public Strategies, Batten worked for the Colorado Department of Human Services, leading a multi-year fatherhood grant, with a total budget of $10 million, engaging numerous community-based organizations throughout the state.
Batten himself is a Certified Family Life Educator and is a subject matter expert, having taught numerous family education programs including Bringing Baby Home, PREP®, Prepare-Enrich, Fatherhood Development, Caring Dads and Boot Camp for New Dads. He is based in Denver, Colorado, working closely with our home office in Oklahoma City, key stakeholders and partner organizations from coast to coast.
