Water4 is a 501(c)3 public charity that empowers indigenous people to solve water problems by providing clean drinking water sources and creating economic opportunities. The organization is active in more than 30 countries and has helped more than half a million people gain access to clean water.
Water4’s annual FREEDOM gala is crucial to its overall fundraising, so strong event awareness and attendance was imperative. Successful silent and live auctions also were critical to meeting Water4’s fundraising goals. Further, the organization wanted to creatively and meaningfully convey its work and vision across all program elements and materials.
Through frequent communication with the client, strictly observed deadlines, inspiring visuals, and effectual planning, Public Strategies delivered an outstanding event experience. Key deliverables included:
- Identify event goals and objectives
- Research and select event location
- Develop and design marketing and promotional materials
- Edit materials and oversee printing/production
- Select vendors and execute contracts
- Help recruit auction donors and event attendees
- Develop run of show
- Coordinate with speakers and performers
- Conduct media outreach/PR
- Provide registration support
- Oversee event program, dinner, and auctions
Public Strategies increased awareness of the available auction items by leveraging BidPal’s mobile fundraising software, social media, websites, and press releases. Public Strategies designed gala program materials and mailers, including intriguing wooden Save The Date cards. Additionally, we included auction “teasers” in the invitation. Artful presentations, staging/décor, and event materials allowed guests to better understand the positive impacts of Water4’s development work.
Results exceeded Water4’s expectations, allowing the organization to impart its mission and vision to 680 attendees while raising $647,000 to aid in global water development initiatives. The live auction yielded 155% of package value, with proceeds in excess of $64K. Due to effective planning and cost management, event expenses came in under budget. Moreover, we achieved a 34% increase in fundraising compared to the previous year’s gala.
