Touch Lives, Drive Change & Do Good Well
Tava Maloy Sofsky is a visionary, solution-oriented leader who leverages her strong community connections and wealth of experience to drive change. A native Oklahoman, Sofsky began her film career in Los Angeles after earning a bachelor’s degree in film and media studies from the University of Oklahoma. She worked on music videos and national commercials before being recruited to work on her first movie. In the ensuing years, she worked with the industry’s biggest studios and stars—from Paramount and Disney to Steven Spielberg and John Travolta.
Called home to Oklahoma, Sofsky became the director of the state’s Film + Music Office, where she grew its 30-million-dollar annual rebate program and spurred unprecedented diversification in the area’s film workforce and infrastructure.
As a Cherokee Nation citizen, she then served her tribe as Director of the Cherokee Film Commission, fostering an ecosystem that supported production and drove economic activity within the reservation. She worked with industry decision-makers and cultural consultants to increase the presence and authentic representation of Native Americans across film and media.
Known as a valuable partner and collaborator, Sofsky’s compassionate and thoughtful communication efforts strengthen missions and reinforce messaging.
