Restore and Renew

If 2020 taught us anything, it’s that we all have vulnerabilities. Our worlds can shatter, so easily.

It’s tempting to disguise our wounds or deny them. Instead, we choose to find inspiration in Kintsugi — the art of precious scars.

Through Kintsugi, broken pieces of humble clay are made stronger by mending the shards together with pure gold paint. The breakage isn’t hidden away, but rather, highlighted and made part of the vessel’s future.

The bamboo paintbrush in this New Year’s mailer serves as reminder that in the process of repairing things that have broken, we can create something unique, beautiful and resilient.

In 2021 — and in the coming years — may we embrace what we’ve survived, salvage what’s good and be stronger for it!
